Walla Walla is located in the southeast region of Washington, approximately five hours drive from Seattle and within walking distance of the Oregon border. Walla Walla is home to Whitman College, Walla Walla Community College, and Washington State Penitentiary Center. Walla Walla University is in the neighboring town of Walla Walla. The state's oldest bank, Baker Boyer Bank, was founded in Walla Walla in 1869. Walla Walla is known for its sweet onions and home to numerous wineries.
