Orange France

Orange in French and officially Aurenja in Provençal Occitan, is a French town and commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. Called "Cité des Princes" (City of Princes), it is the former capital of the Principality of Orange. It has a population of 30,025 inhabitants (in 2007) called "Orangeois". Its economy is based on several sectors: viticulture (with controlled appellations of origin), industry (Saint-Gobain factory), services and commerce, and the army. It is about 21 km north of Avignon. It covers an area of 7,420 hectares and has an average altitude of 50 metres above sea level.
