Vaduz Liechtenstein

The city of Vaduz is the capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein. It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Liechtenstein and an important international financial centre. Vaduz is the seat of the administration of the Principality of the Parliament (Landtag) and desde1939 residence of the Prince, who is currently Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein. Surely the region was populated since prehistoric times according to the remains found recently. In Roman times was a point of junction for the Germanic region. The city was probably founded in the 13th century by the count of Werdenberg, who built a defensive Castle in the region, which was conducive to attract people and give life to the city. The first refers to the castle is in the year 1322, and in 1499 the Castle appears as looted by the Swiss. During the Renaissance the city lived a time of great architectural and cultural momentum. Vaduz is mentioned for the first time in the year 1150. From the mid-15th century, the count of Vaduz resided in the castle of the city.
