About the destination: Frankfurt-am-Main is Germany’s major finance and business metropolis and its most cosmopolitan city. Dubbed “Mainhattan” due to its glitzy skyscrapers, it is also a thriving cultural centre, with important scientific research centres and universities, a lovely opera, many theatres and a rich collection of museums. The Römerberg is the historic heart of Frankfurt. In the centre of this gorgeous square we find a copy of the statue of Justice. In the southern end we have the cute Nikolai Church and to the west we have the famous Römer, the city hall which is composed of several building, dating back to the 15th and 16th century. Nearby we find the Goethe House, Frankfurt’s most treasured museum, it conveys a sense of the Goethe family’s bourgeois opulence. Behind the Historischer Garten, the historic garden, where you can walk among Roman and Carolingian excavations, the Frankfurter Dom rises. Frankfurt's main Catholic church held crowning ceremonies for the Holy Roman Emperors. This old Gothic style church is one of the most important churches in German history. Climb the tower for a stunning view of the city. The city’s nightlife is fascinating and wide-ranging. Its traditional live jazz scene is still kicking and a slew of trendy new bars offer visitors the chance to indulge on a night around town. On top of that, Frankfurt is crammed with amazing clubs for those who can happily dance until the early hours of the morning.

2. Erfurt
Stay
About the destination: Erfurt is the capital of the German state of Thüringen. It was an important trading town during the Middle Ages, and has many beautiful old buildings and parks. The city centre is quite compact so walking is often the best way to explore the city. Much of Erfurt's charm is found in its narrow streets, many of which are pedestrianized, with their beautiful old houses, green areas and little bridges across the Gera River and the Stadtpark and the Nordpark on different sides of the city centre. The most important sites to see in Erfurt are: - Dom (Cathedral) and Severi Kirche (Church) both overlooking the Domplatz (main market square, location of the Christmas market in December as well as fairs throughout the year). - Krämerbrücke (Bridge with medieval houses, the most important landmark in Erfurt) - Fischmarkt with its Burgerhouses and town hall. - Augustinerkloster (monastery where Martin Luther lived), the main gate of the old university (third oldest German university, shut down in the 19th century and reopened in 1992) - Anger (Main Square, full of stores) with the old Post Office building. - Petersberg Citadel (a historical defence system and a great lookout over the city) - Old Synagogue Oldest surviving European Synagogue, today a museum that has an impressive collection of 14th century Jewish jewellery.

3. Wittenberg
Stay
About the destination: Wittenberg, officially Lutherstadt Wittenberg, is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Situated on the river Elbe, it has a population of about 50,000. The importance of Wittenberg historically was due to its seat of the Elector of Saxony, a dignity held by the dukes of Saxe-Wittenberg and also to its close connection with Martin Luther and the dawn of the Protestant Reformation; several of its buildings are associated with the events of this time. Part of the Augustinian monastery in which Luther dwelt, first as a monk and later as owner with his wife and family, is preserved and considered to be the world's premier museum dedicated to Luther.

4. Leipzig
Stay
About the destination: The city of Leipzig is famous for two things: books and music. The university, founded in 1409, stands for an illustrious tradition of learning that embraces the names of Lessing and Nietzsche, among others. Publishing has always been a thriving industry in this city. The Altstadt, the old quarter, is still crammed with bookstores, and major international book fairs take place here annually. Music is a real tradition here, and occupies a central place in the lives of its inhabitants. In 1723 Johann Sebastian Bach settled here, he filled many of the city’s churches with the sound of his early work. The fortified towers of the Neues Rathaus dominates the Altstadt. Nearby, is the Thomaskirche where J.S. Bach served as cantor. Bach’s grave lies just in front of the altar. The heart of the city throbs within the Marktplatz, a colourful cobbled square guarded by the charming Altes Rathaus. Inside, the City History Museum recounts the history of the city. Behind it is the Alte Börse with a monument to Goethe in front. Leipzig offers its guests a wide choice of entertainment .Visit the many museums that the city has, or if you prefer, stroll casually through the arcades and passageways covered with glazed structures so typical of Leipzig. This fun and dynamic city has, as well, its fair share of colourful shops and cafes and an abundance of nightlife.
